Cambridge Wedding Photographer

Amy and Bill had the most stunning wedding day at the Cambridge Mill. I was absolutely honoured to be a part of it.

 

I was recommended to Amy and Bill by a mutual friend we share. They booked me while I had been running my professional photography business for just a few months, taking a bit of a chance on me as I had no wedding experience at the time. Their wedding was initially scheduled for 2021, but like many couples they decided to postpone their wedding to 2022 to ensure they could have a more normal wedding day without pandemic restrictions. It ended up being a great decision, as their day was beautiful and they were able to celebrate with a full venue of friends and family, plus I had the full additional year of learning and hands on experience by the time their wedding day rolled around. 


I’m so thrilled with how their gallery turned out and with the amazing feedback from the couple. I hope anyone checking out this post enjoys all these lovely photos as much as we do!

Cambridge Wedding Getting Ready Locations


We started the day getting ready at the Cambridge Hotel. Although the rooms were a bit small, we were able to use both natural light and flash to create these beautiful bright and contrasting images. How gorgeous is the bride and her bridesmaids!! They used artificial floral arrangements rented from a local company who puts together personalize bouquets to match each couple’s colours without the larger expense and waste with traditional floral arrangements. 


Wedding Photo Locations in Cambridge


When everyone was ready, we headed off to Mill Race Park for the couple’s first look, wedding party and family portraits. This location is quite lovely with an old amphitheatre, but in the middle of the day offers limited shade. If you select this location for your portraits, you’ll need a photographer who knows how to work with full, mid day lighting. 


Cambridge Mill Ceremony & Reception


The ceremony location at Cambridge Mill is absolutely gorgeous, but again requires a photographer who knows how to work in harsh lighting. Flash is pretty much essential for balanced images with the bright backlighting. As long as you find the right photographer, you will get stunning ceremony photos, especially with the cathedral ceiling and floor to ceiling window overlooking the Grand River. Talk about a dream!!!

The balcony at the Mill is also an amazing spot you don’t want to skip for photos. Again we were working with full sun, but these images still turned out absolutely stunning! If you can, try to book your time for the balcony during golden hour! It’s 100% worth sneaking out during your reception for photos at this gorgeous location overlooking the Grand River!


The Cambridge Mill has a few different options for your reception space, each with a different capacity. Amy and Bill chose the Waterfront Room and Garden Terrace for their reception. It has capacity for 100 guests, perfect for the more intimate traditional wedding. The Garden Terrace is a stunning window lined room with walk out access to the gardens. Also, the food at the Cambridge Mill is amazing!! I didn’t get to fully enjoy all the food while working, but the spring rolls and mushroom soup were my favourites of the evening.
