There is a reason I always get excited when a couple suggests doing their engagement photos in Cambridge, Ontario. Walking through downtown Galt feels like stepping straight into a historic European city. Between the stunning limestone architecture, the sweeping views of the Grand River, and the vibrant local cityscape, it offers the perfect backdrop for a timeless love story.


When Kristen and Thai mentioned they wanted a mix of old-world charm and dramatic urban views with a moody and warm feel for their engagement session, I knew that downtown Cambridge would offer a perfect setting.

Historic Architecture Meets Modern Love in Downtown Galt

We started our session wandering past the iconic stone buildings that give Cambridge its distinct character. As a wedding and engagement photographer, I am constantly looking for textures and light, and the historic brickwork and architectural elements here never disappoint. Kristen & Thai brought the perfect blend of style and effortless energy, making it incredibly easy to capture those candid, connective and classy moments against the vintage, cobblestone-esque backdrop.

Sunset Views along the Grand River

No Cambridge engagement session is complete without incorporating the water. While the sun was feeling a bit shy this evening skipping the golden glow we all love, instead we were gifted with this beautiful softly diffused light.

Cityscape Nooks

To wrap up the evening, we embraced the more urban, cityscape side of town. The transition from historic ruins to the energetic local streets gave us an entirely different vibe for the second half of the shoot. Kristen and Thai's slightly formal attire helped set the scene as we let the mood become a bit more editorial as the city lights started to twinkle.
